Ian Geddes Reserve Working Bee

The next working bee will be on Sunday 10th August.

We will be focusing on cutting ivy off the trees, identifying the weeds and pulling baby privets. The site is really progressing to be an example of what a great healthy waterway in the Upper Billabong should look like.

Bring food and drink, gloves, sturdy clothing and footwear to suit the weather. Welcome to bring tools - digging implements & secateurs, but we will also provide some. Meeting at the Wilson St entrance. Come for a walk and hear about the natural environment at the reserve, Refreshing Rivers Program in the Upper Billabong and join our Holbrook Urban Landcare group!

In what is thought to be an Australian first, a portable PIT (Passive Integrated Transponder) reader has been installed in Adjungbilly Creek to help scientists track the movements of the endangered Macquarie Perch.

Success Story | Upper Billabong Citizen Science

We lacked information on the aquatic wildlife of the Upper Billabong catchment, so using Citizen Science - the Refreshing Rivers iNaturalist project and eDNA tests, we have gathered 1,672 observations across the catchment and also completed 9 eDNA profiles in local waterways.
